Mbajtja e një manikyri të thonjve të pastër dhe të fortë
A manicure is arguably the easiest way to give yourself a quick glow up. Maintaining a set of clean, strong nails is a basic self-care habit that can—at a glance—resemble your overall hygiene. Whether you’re headed to an interview or lunch with an old friend, if your nails are disheveled, people notice. To encourage a healthy nail routine, we tapped Kourt’s manicurist, Kim Truong, for celeb-approved advice on how to keep your nails (and hands) in proper condition.Learn four ways to keep your paws in perfect form below:

1. Maintain a Healthy Diet

“Healthy nails start from the inside. Having a balanced diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals is super beneficial for healthy skin, hair, and nails. Key nutrients for strong, shiny nails include Biotin (vitamin B7), omega-3s, and vitamins C and D. Also, fish oil contains the essential fatty acid omega-3, which plays a role in keeping the moisture locked in our nails.”

2. Moisturize Your Cuticles and Hands

“One of the best ways to maintain healthy nails and promote nail growth is by moisturizing your cuticles. Putting oil around the cuticle helps to reduce chipping, cracking, and splitting—all while making your manicure last longer. After a manicure, I love applying Kora Organics Noni Glow Body Oil to Kourt’s hands and cuticles. I massage it around her cuticles for a few seconds to lock in the moisture.”

3. Get Regular Manicures

“One of the many reasons nails may be damaged is due to improper application and removal of the product. Gels or acrylic nail enhancements should never be forcefully removed or peeled off. Seek a professional manicurist that uses quality products (preferably free of harsh toxins, like formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP), and properly removes gel polish by only filing off the top layer of gel to break the seal, then wrapping and soaking nails with gel remover. I see Kourt at least once a week, or once every two weeks, depending on her schedule. She has healthy nails that grow super fast due to her healthy lifestyle (and she never picks at her nails).

4. Protect Your Hands

“If you frequently wash your hands, make sure to moisturize as often as possible. Try natural dish soap, as it’s gentler on hands, and a hydrating hand cream immediately after doing dishes. When doing housework, minimize contact with harmful chemicals by wearing rubber gloves. Additionally, apply sunscreen daily, especially to the tops of your hands because it’s one of the first areas to show signs of aging.”
