Udhëzimi i Venus Williams për grimin ditor

Venus Williams’s 1.2 million Instagram followers have been in for a treat over the past few months: while quarantined at home in Florida, the seven-time Grand Slam champion has taken to her social media page to share the workouts she swears by for a fit body and clear mind. Now, Williams is also pulling back the curtain on her beauty routine.

First up is a detoxifying tea tree cream cleanser bought on the Caribbean island St. Lucia. “When I go [to] different places I love to find... what’s local,” she says, referring to her penchant for Moroccan oils, manuka honey from New Zealand, and other regional finds. A trio of serums by Asutra — hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and retinol — meanwhile, provides a three-pronged approach to targeting troubled skin. “I’ve had acne since my teens… I’m always fighting to hopefully not have any breakouts,” she explains.

Naturally, such a scrupulous approach to skincare extends below the neck too: “We gotta take it all the way down,” she says as she rubs a drop of rose oil — followed by a squirt of her own sunscreen — over her underarms, décolletage, and “tatas” too. “I started taking care of my skin because of my mom,” Williams recalls. “My mom, as long as I can remember, has been taking baths, exfoliating… and rubbing lotion on her body. I remember when we were kids, we would tease her… but we were wrong. She was right.”

On the court, Williams opts for just a simple swipe of eyeliner — “When I’m playing tournaments, I do not wear make-up because the last thing that I want to be worried about is too much make-up, but I will do some things, like I definitely wear an eyeliner; I’m in the eyeliner club”— but in her day-to-day, she goes for “a super, super natural look” courtesy of Chantecaille’s featherlight foundation, contour cream by Anastasia Beverly Hills, and a swipe of Thrive’s lengthening mascara, which, she notes, “honestly makes the face.”

“I like to end it all with an aromatherapy moment,” Williams says of her final step: an uplifting lemongrass and jasmine spritz called — what else? — Calm, Cool, and Collected. “In the morning, honestly I can’t get up, so I have this by the bed and start misting.” With her skin-care journey complete, she has just one last piece of advice: “Go face the day!”
