Madonna is the queen of transformation. As such, it was only a matter of time before the pop icon joined the droves of individuals embracing radical hair transformations in lockdown by debuting a new look all her own.
While many have been using hair color changing Instagram filters to toy with candy-hued lengths, Madonna went all the way, debuting a fresh, pastel rose-color dye job in a post encouraging her followers to vote. "The 3 faces of a girl who just Voted!!" wrote Madonna in the caption of her #BidenHarris2020-hashtagged share, which featured a trio of close-up selfies. "Get out there and take responsibility people!!" In the series of snaps, Madge showcased the versatility of her washed-out pink hair, wearing it in both a wispy updo and a wavy lob with dramatic, full lashes, rouged cheeks, and a velvety fuchsia pout.
According to colorist Nicola Clarke, Madge's rosy hue was the handiwork of Crazy Color's semi-permanent cream in Candy Floss. “It was soft, pretty, and the perfect pink,” wrote Clarke on Instagram.
In a later post, Madonna shared a video of herself (set to her 1992 cover of "Fever," from her fifth studio album, Erotica) doing her makeup and spritzing on her new Madame X fragrance as hairstylist Andy Lecompte blow-dried her fluorescent blush lengths.
While Madonna has experimented with the ultimate saccharine shade before—she wore hot pink ombré tips in her “Bitch I’m Madonna” music video back in 2015—her new rose-colored dye job is, of course, a fitting mood-enhancing strategy for right now.
